Christmas programme: what we stage at Christmas

Christmas is the shortest and most intense season of the year: the light switch-on, the Christmas market, the Three Kings parade and, in many towns, afternoon programming through the school holidays. Each one calls for a different format.
This programme brings together what we stage on those dates. It is worth settling early: the diaries for December and for 5 January fill up in October.
You can also see the page for this theme, with videos and photographs of real performances.
The shows in the programme

Royal pages
The character that opens the party: he dances, juggles with glittering props and climbs onto stilts so he can be seen from the back of the square. He is the one who works best at a light switch-on.

The Three Kings
Their Majesties in full costume for a reception, a parade or a home visit, with an attending page. It adapts to the route and the number of stops the town has.

Enchanted forest
Goblins and winter creatures among the crowd at the Christmas market. This is walkabout entertainment: it needs no stage and no road closure.

Light and fire show
The night closing, with real fire and LED light costumes. In December, with the square already lit, is where it looks best.

Children's entertainment
Storytelling, a bubble workshop and balloon modelling. At Christmas it is almost compulsory: the crowd in the square is above all a family one.
