Entertainment for Renaissance and Baroque markets

What a Renaissance or Baroque set includes

It is the most heavily costumed theme of all. Lords and ladies in powdered wigs, corsets, embroidered coats and fans, court jesters, musicians and historical dancers. Where medieval is tavern and market, this is palace and salon.

A walkabout set runs thirty minutes and a static one twenty-five. Static, we stage the period dance piece with its own choreography and music; walkabout, the procession crosses the site at a courtly pace, far slower than a medieval parade, which is why it covers small spaces better.

The close is the Renaissance fire show: the same fans, torches and staffs as in every other theme, but with period costume and staging. Real fire, with trained performers and our own materials.

Renaissance and Baroque are not the same thing

They are often confused and it is worth separating them, because the client is not the same. Renaissance fits historical fairs, reconstructions and towns with a sixteenth-century quarter: it is more restrained, closer to the Italian court, and it programmes alongside medieval without jarring.

Baroque is excess: more volume, more gilding, more Venetian mask. It works at galas, corporate dinners, openings and weddings that want an entrance with theatre in it, and at carnival, where the mask is already written into the party.

We have a separate programme for each one, so you can see the cast and the costume before deciding which suits your event.

For historical fairs, galas, carnivals and weddings

A full day is five sets across the day; a half day, three. At a gala or a wedding we do not work in sets but in slots: welcoming guests, a dance piece after dinner and the close.

You do not have to handle the set-up. We need no stage: a closed room nearby for costume changes — which in this theme takes longer than in any other — a water point and a clear area if there is fire.

Where we have staged it

At historical fairs and patron saint festivals across the Madrid region, Castilla y León and Castilla-La Mancha, usually in towns that already ran a medieval programme and wanted a second theme so as not to repeat. And at weddings, galas and corporate events in and around Madrid.

We travel from Madrid and the journey is inside the quote, with no per-kilometre price and no weekend or bank holiday surcharge.

How to book

Tell us the date, the venue, the running order and the capacity and we send back a fixed quote as a PDF with several options depending on the number of performers. It carries everything but VAT: performers, period costume and wigs, props, music, our own sound, fire materials, insurance, social security registration, travel, accommodation and per diems.

Every performer is registered with social security by the company, which carries public liability insurance and accident insurance. We supply a description of each show, its running time, the number of sets, the audience and photographic documentation for the file.

Not sure whether Renaissance or Baroque suits you better? Tell us about the event and we will tell you: we do not charge for adapting the theme.
