Entertainment for Arab souks and Three Cultures markets

Belly dancing, stilt walkers, parades and real fire for Al-Andalus markets

Fantasía dancers and musicians in Arabian costume at the Arabian market in Cútar, Málaga

What a set of Arabian entertainment includes

Belly dance is the act everyone waits for, but it is not the whole show. The Arabian cast is made up of belly and veil dancers, live musicians on darbuka and percussion, charmers, lantern bearers and silk-fan dancers who swap the fans for fire once night falls.

A walkabout set runs thirty minutes: the parade crosses the market with live music up front and the dancers clearing the way. A static set runs twenty-five and is staged in the square, with a longer dance piece and the fire show to close.

The Arabian fire show is the same one we build for every other theme — torches, fans, staffs and fire breathing, with real fire — but with the costume, the music and the choreography of an Andalusi setting.

For Arabian markets, Andalusi fairs and town festivals

Arabian and Andalusi settings are the most requested in Andalusia, for obvious reasons, and they work especially well in towns with Moorish heritage or a narrow-streeted old quarter, where a parade with lanterns and percussion is heard before it is seen.

In summer, with the right weather, the night set holds an audience well into the small hours: it is the theme that best sustains a fair that runs long. A full day is five sets; a half day, three.

You do not have to worry about the set-up: we need no stage. A closed room nearby for costume changes, a water point and a clear area for the fire is enough. We bring our own sound and microphones.

Where we have staged Arabian entertainment

At the Arabian fair in Cútar, Málaga, with the parade through the village and a real fire show in the square at dusk. In Juviles, high in the Alpujarra of Granada. In Cártama, also in Málaga. And at fairs across Córdoba, Cádiz, Huelva, Seville and Jaén, the provinces that call us most often for this theme.

Outside Andalusia we have taken it to Toledo, Guadalajara and the Valencia region, usually to fairs that already ran a medieval programme and wanted to alternate. We travel from Madrid and the journey is inside the quote, with no per-kilometre charge.

How to book

Tell us the town, the dates, the running order and roughly how many people you expect, and we send a fixed quote as a PDF with several options depending on the number of performers and musicians. The price covers everything but VAT: performers, costume, props, instruments, our own sound, fire materials, insurance, social security registration, travel, accommodation and per diems.

Every performer is registered with social security by the company, which carries public liability insurance and accident insurance. We supply a description of each show, its running time, the number of sets per day, the audience it is aimed at and photographic documentation — exactly what any street entertainment tender asks for.

Want to combine it — Arabian by day and medieval by night, or Arabian with falconry? We build it at no extra cost.
